چکیده مقاله:
Microplastic pollution poses significant risks to marine ecosystems due to persistence and interaction with contaminants. Studies in Iran have detected microplastics (MPs) in sea salt and wetlands, emphasizing the need for remediation strategies. Bioremediation offers an eco-friendly solution, with algae-based approaches showing promise through binding and sedimentation. Plant-based coagulants like okra and oak powder demonstrate high efficiency in removal. Bio-based materials, such as chitin-cellulose sponges, have proven effective in capturing MPs and they are reusable. Certain bacterial species and yeasts show potential for biodegradation and biosedimentation. These findings emphasize on the importance of continued research and regulatory measures to enhance Iran's efforts in mitigating microplastic pollution through sustainable bioremediation techniques.
