Relationship between Body Mass Index and sleep quality in employees of Water and Power Organization

Numerous factors, such as diet and nutrition, and consequently, body mass index (BMI), can influence the sleep quality of individuals, particularly employees. The present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the body mass index (BMI) and sleep quality in employees. A total sample of ۳۴۰ participants was recruited from the Water And Power Organization Of Ahvaz in this observational study. Anthropometric indices, including weight, height, and waist circumference, were measured using standard methods. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire assessed sleep quality. Linear regression was used to assess the correlation between BMI and sleep quality. The mean BMI score for the total sample was ۲۶.۲۱±۴.۰۴. Also, the mean score for PSQI was ۷.۹۴±۵.۵۳. There were no significant correlations between BMI and sleep quality. This study found no significant correlation between body mass index (BMI) and sleep quality among employees of the Water and Power Organization of Ahvaz. Despite the high prevalence of overweight and poor sleep quality observed in the sample, these factors appear to be independent of each other. Future studies with larger populations are recommended to further explore potential influences of workplace conditions and other confounding variables on sleep quality and BMI.
