چکیده مقاله:
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Among these, air pollution has been identified as a significant environmental contributor to the onset and severity of the disease. This systematic review investigates the impact of air pollution on SLE in young populations. The reviews indicate that air pollution significantly affects the activity and progression of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Exposure to higher levels of PM۲.۵ and CO was associated with increased disease activity (p = ۰.۰۲۱ and p = ۰.۰۱۳) and an increased risk of developing SLE (hazard ratio ۱.۱۸, p < ۰.۰۵). Additionally, PM۲.۵ exposure led to elevated inflammatory markers such as TNF-α and IL-۱۰ (p < ۰.۰۵). These results demonstrate a direct link between air pollution and the severity of the disease, emphasizing the need for air pollution management in the prevention and treatment of SLE. Based on the reviewed studies, it appears that air pollution significantly exacerbates the activity of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Pollutants such as PM۲.۵, CO, and NO۲ are associated with increased inflammatory markers (TNF-α, IL-۱۰) and higher disease activity scores (SLEDAI). Furthermore, studies have reported a connection between air pollution and an increased risk of developing SLE, particularly in individuals with specific genetic backgrounds. These findings highlight the need for public health measures and further research on the long-term effects of air pollution on SLE.
