Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder that occurs when dopamine levels in the brain drop. Early symptoms include muscle stiffness, loss of smell, and tremors, and can be managed with medication or lifestyle changes. Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that begins with movement problems. It can affect the part of your brain that controls body movement. Parkinson's starts gradually, so most people don't realize they have it, but over time, a slight tremor in your hands can start, and eventually the disease can affect how you walk, talk, sleep, and think. Many risk factors for Parkinson's have been proposed, but none have been conclusively proven. Two factors have been most frequently cited: an increased risk in those exposed to insecticides and pesticides, and a decreased risk in smokers. There is a possible link between Parkinson's and Helicobacter pylori infection. Researchers believe that Helicobacter pylori produces chemicals that are toxic to the brain. The bacteria can also prevent the absorption of Parkinson's drugs, including levodopa, so treating the infection in Parkinson's patients may improve the absorption of this drug. Research has shown that Parkinson's is the result of a complex interaction between genetic and environmental factors. About ۱۵ percent of people with Parkinson's have a first-degree relative with Parkinson's.
