Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing polymer engineering by driving innovations in polymer design, synthesis, and manufacturing. Through AI technologies, significant strides are being made in enhancing polymer properties, accelerating the discovery of novel materials, and improving manufacturing efficiency. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the latest advancements in AI applications within polymer engineering. It highlights the transformative potential of AI algorithms in predictive modeling for polymer design, and explores the growing importance of AI-driven automation in optimizing manufacturing processes. Furthermore, the paper discusses future directions for AI integration, with a focus on Industry ۴.۰ and ۵.۰, sustainable polymer development, and multi-scale modeling. The role of AI in fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations with fields such as computational chemistry, bio-based engineering, and advanced imaging technologies is also examined. Additionally, this paper addresses the ethical and societal implications of AI in polymer engineering, including environmental concerns, job displacement, and intellectual property challenges. Finally, the paper explores the barriers to scaling AI adoption in the industry and suggests strategies to overcome the gap between academic research and industrial application.
