Exploring Citizen Engagement in Shaping Creative Cities: A Case Study of Tabriz Metropolis

Public participation has become a fundamental tool and a critical component in urban decision-making processes, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. Creative cities emerge as hubs of innovation, where ideas are transformed into economic value, creating environments that attract and retain residents, especially the youth. These cities not only draw citizens but also attract tourists, boosting various economic sectors. This study examines the impact of citizen engagement on the development of creative cities, with Tabriz Metropolis serving as a case study. The research evaluates key factors and ranks them using the fuzzy DEMATEL method, with all calculations conducted in Excel. In today's world, cities are recognized as epicenters of innovation and creativity, with citizen participation playing a pivotal role in sustainable urban growth. This research assesses the perspectives and experiences of Tabriz's citizens regarding their involvement in cultural, artistic, and social activities through both qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings indicate that effective citizen participation not only strengthens the sense of community and urban identity but also significantly enhances the quality of life and the overall appeal of Tabriz. The study provides recommendations for improving participation channels and fostering creativity in Tabriz's urban planning. Ultimately, these insights can help guide urban planners in developing policies and strategies to advance creative city initiatives.
