چکیده مقاله:
Gerontology or the science of gerontology studies the aging processes from biological, psychological and sociological aspects. One of the phenomena of today's world is the increase in age and population aging. According to predictions, in ۲۰۲۵, one out of every seven people in the world will be over ۶۰ years old. Given that this group, as a special group, has its own special and specific needs, it is necessary for settlements, especially cities, to adapt to these needs. The research method is descriptive-analytical, which uses data collection tools including library and document studies. First, by studying related texts and utilizing research records, theories, and experiences, criteria for the desirability of space for the elderly are extracted based on them. Therefore, in this article, considering theories, executive measures in the world, as well as a case study in Tehran, solutions are presented for the physical and mental health of the elderly with an emphasis on architectural aspects.
