With the advancement of driver assistance systems and the emergence of autonomous vehicles as one of the applications of artificial intelligence in the automotive industry, the development of these systems in the context of traffic control has been on the agenda of automakers. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are a set of technologies that enhance safety, comfort, and other vehicle capabilities while driving, contributing to increased road safety and reduced traffic. These systems typically include sensors, cameras, and artificial intelligence (AI) with complex algorithms that analyze collected data, playing a key role in improving the performance of these systems and traffic control. One of the most important features provided by autonomous vehicle systems is full compliance with traffic laws and regulations, which is a significant factor in traffic control and can ensure safe driving conditions on the road while reducing human errors. Therefore, a system equipped with image processing techniques to recognize traffic signs in driver assistance systems is essential. This paper reviews some of the main components of ADAS, the applications of AI in them, and the impact these systems have on traffic control, as well as various algorithms for recognizing traffic signs in autonomous vehicles using a library method and a descriptive-analytical approach.
