چکیده مقاله:

Low-emission (low-E) glass is an energy-efficient glazing technology developed to minimize heat transfer while maximizing visible light transmittance. By employing nano-thin coatings of metallic oxides, low-E glass reduces energy consumption in buildings by up to ۵۰%, playing a pivotal role in addressing climate goals and improving thermal comfort. Evolving from basic coatings introduced during the ۱۹۷۰s energy crisis, low-E glass now incorporates advanced soft and hard coat technologies, enhanced by nanotechnology for superior performance, durability, and multifunctionality. This paper reviews the historical development, coating technologies, and environmental benefits of low-E glass, emphasizing its contribution to energy savings, carbon footprint reduction, and compliance with global sustainability standards like LEED and BREEAM. It also explores challenges such as high production costs, recycling complexities, and limited adoption in emerging markets. Future opportunities include cost-efficient manufacturing, enhanced recyclability, and integration with renewable energy systems and smart technologies. Low-E glass stands as a cornerstone of sustainable construction, offering significant potential for expansion across sectors including automotive and solar energy.
