چکیده مقاله:

This article examines femicide in Central and South America, highlighting the roles of advocacy movements and institutional responses. It analyzes how grassroots activism influences public awareness and policy reforms while assessing the effectiveness of existing mechanisms. By integrating advocacy efforts with governmental and non-governmental strategies, the research offers a comprehensive view of femicide as a socio-political issue needing coordinated action. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combines qualitative research with literature reviews, including scholarly articles, legal frameworks, and semi-structured interviews with experts in criminology and gender studies. Focus groups with community representatives capture grassroots perspectives, allowing for a nuanced exploration of advocacy movements. Findings reveal that advocacy significantly impacts legislative changes and public awareness about femicide. Grassroots activism has led to the establishment of specific femicide laws, elevating the issue to a critical human rights concern. The research concludes that integrating advocacy movements with institutional responses is vital for combating femicide effectively. Collaborative efforts are essential for systemic change and challenging cultural norms that perpetuate gender-based violence. Finally, the article recommends enhancing advocacy and institutional strategies to reduce femicide rates and promote women's rights in the region.
