چکیده مقاله:

Cement production consumes large quantities of energy and produces large greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, becoming a major threat to the environment. The partial replacement of cement with red mud (RM) is cost-efficient and protects the environment. This paper replaced cement with RM at a fraction of ۲۰% to evaluate its effects on the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC), GHG emissions, and the global warming potential (GWP). Polypropylene (PP) fibers were also utilized at volume fractions of ۰.۶% and ۰.۱۵%, measuring PP fiber contributions to the mechanical properties. This study also conducted a lifecycle assessment (LCA) to quantify the environmental impacts of FRC. It was found that PP fibers enhanced flexural and tensile strengths. Furthermore, RM led to larger reductions in the elasticity modulus and compressive strength than in the other mechanical properties. However, the major GHGs, e.g., NOx, CO, SO۲, and CO, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) declined. The GWP reduction was quantified using the LCA of the RM-containing FRC.
