As a landlocked country, Afghanistan has been facing instability crisis and continuous military conflicts for more than ۴ decades in the form of presence of foreign military forces or internal conflict. The subject of the conflict has always been the acquisition of power and the development of influence in this country. During these ۵ decades, two military powers of the world have initiated a direct military presence in this country, and both times, a series of external competitions, both regional and extra-regional, along with internal resistance, led to the failure of the military interventionist parties. foreign and the continuation of the crisis. Meanwhile, for Afghanistan as a buffer state, maintaining a balanced position among the rival buffer powers and staying away from their sphere of influence is considered as survival wisdom and requires a foreign policy with special coordinates that makes this important possible. The assumption of the current research is that one of the main reasons for the continuation of the crisis in Afghanistan is the country's lack of attention to the geopolitical requirements that the nature of the buffer space imposes on its foreign policy. This lack of attention has provided the necessary motivation for intervention by creating sensitivity on the part of other parties. This article tries to first provide a general picture of the buffer country from the perspective of prominent researchers, and then by focusing on the field of foreign policy of the buffer country, evaluate the variables that shape the requirements of Afghanistan's foreign policy.
