چکیده مقاله:

This paper delves into the capabilities of urban planning, with a specific emphasis on the Victorian Planning Provisions (VPP) and planning schemes. It explores how associated tools such as strategies, policies, zones, and overlays are utilized to effectively manage and safeguard the natural environment while enhancing landscape ecological values. Central to this discussion is the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration among landscape architecture, urban planning, and engineering disciplines in optimizing natural environments, especially in Victorian coastal cities. The paper argues that landscapes, beyond their aesthetic appeal, play a pivotal role in mitigating climate crises such as flood management, rising sea levels, dune landscape protection, bushfire mitigation, and reduction of water and soil pollution. Practical examples drawn from Warrnambool, Lorne, and Port Campbell illustrate the importance of coordinated efforts among these disciplines for the sustainable management of natural and built environments that shape landscapes in Victorian coastal cities.
