چکیده مقاله:

Background: Infertility is a global issue which has affected۱۵-۲۰% of couples. Within the past two decades, understandingof reproduction system and its related factors has growndramatically, especially the role of male factor in infertility.Previous research has shown that ۲۰% of infertilities are causedby male infertility. Oxidative stress which leads to the productionof active oxygen types (ROS) is recognized as a key factorinvolved in male infertility. However, its physiological valuesare estimated by the enzymes in NADpH family. In the case ofdisrupted spermatogenesis and maintenance of extra cytoplasm, there is an increase of ROS in unnatural sperm. Moreover, thereis research-based evidence that sperm parameters also affectinfertility.Materials and Methods: In this research, the sample consistedof ۵۰ healthy and ۵۰ oligospermic male subjects. A semen samplewas taken from both groups to analyze sperm parameters aswell as mRNA expression in Nox۵ gene. Results: Sperm parameters including sperm count, volume andmorphology in the seminal fluid of the control group enjoyeda better and more proper state than the oligospermic group.Analysis of Nox۵ expression showed to be increased in the oligospermicgroup as compared to the healthy group. Conclusion: The present findings confirmed the effect of oxidativestress as involved in male infertility. Therefore, a propertherapeutic approach can hope to reduce ROS level with thehelp of antioxidants and improve sperm quality. It can also reducethe expression of oxidant genes such as Nox۵ and thusincrease male fertility.
