چکیده مقاله:

Controlled rocking steel cores (CRSCs) have been developed with reliable self-centering ability asa seismic force resisting system. In a CRSC, selected columns in response to intense seismic loads areable to uplift from the foundation. Simultaneously, unbonded post-tensioning tendons and energydissipation devices restrict the rocking-core response. The frame should be capacity designedsufficiently to make sure that all nonlinearity is concentrated in ED devices. It is essential to predictpeak forces accurately, especially while rocking joints reach their peak rotations. This paper examinesa method which considers higher modes effects for estimating the peak forces in frame elements anddesigning upper rocking joints to mitigate higher mode effects. This method is employed forestimating peak forces for ۶-, ۹-, ۱۲-, and ۱۵-story archetypes. The findings indicate noticeableincreasing demands on higher mode effects. These forces should be considered during capacity designor reduced by designing upper rocking joints.
