چکیده مقاله:
The December ۱۳, ۲۰۲۲, Tabas earthquake, with a moment magnitude of ۵.۶, significantlyimpacted the seismic-prone Tabas region, emphasizing the urgency of studying its geological andtectonic conditions, especially in high-seismicity zones. The absence of prior studies on the main faultblock led to our mission to calculate it using tensor moment inversion. This approach enhances ourunderstanding of geological processes and seismic activity, contributing to precise earthquake hazardassessments in Tabas. The study area, located in central Iran, features complex tectonic settings,resulting in numerous fault lines, including the Tabas fault. Using the ISOLA method, we conductedwaveform inversion based on local and regional data to obtain the Centroid Moment Tensor (CMT).The H-C method was applied to identify the fault plane. The focal mechanism indicates a strike-sliptype with a dextral component. Our analysis pinpointed the fault plane, confirming its right-lateralstrike-slip mechanism with a ۶۵-degree eastward dip.
