چکیده مقاله:

Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) in one of the important cellulose derivatives, which is widely used asstabilizer, dispersing agent, and thickener. In this work, cellulose is converted to CMC by etherificationreaction. The effect of NaOH and monochloro acetic acid (MCA) concentration (molar amount) on thedegree of substitution (DS) and viscosity were investigated. The produced CMC was identified by ATRFTIR.It was found that NaOH concentration has a more significant effect on the viscosity compared to MCAconcentration. Also An excessive rise in the concentration of reactants leads to decreasing the effect of themon the viscosity and DS and producing more by-products. Also the most DS and viscosity for C۱۳ as thebest sample were ۱.۰۸ and ۹۶۱.۲cp respectively
