Synthesis of hybrid nanoparticles based on a novel ionic liquids

A hybrid nanoparticles was synthesized by tethering a novel ionic liquid (IL) to the silica (SiO۲)nanoparticles surface. In this work, the ۳-chloropropyl triethoxy silane as an anion and ۱-butyl-۳-vinylimidazlium bromide as a cation were used. The remarkably high surface area offered by silicananoparticles allows considerable ionic liquid attachment on the particle surface. The FTIR resultsconfirmed the ionic liquid was successfully synthesized and grafted on SiO۲ nanoparticles.
