چکیده مقاله:

Cataract surgery is a routine ophthalmologic intervention resulting in replacement of the opacifiednatural lens by a polymeric intraocular lens. In this research, the lens was made of poly(methylmethacrylate) using the in-situ polymerization and cast molding method and in oven using threedifferent mold materials, aluminum, polypropylene and glass. After ۳۲ tests, experimental resultshowed that the glass mold under polymerization condition of ۳ hours at ۶۵ °C and then ۱ hour at ۸۰°C is the best. The lens was machined by an ultra-precise turning machine by SPDT method, and thelight transmission percentage and optical interferometry tests were performed to check its quality.The maximum light transmission rate was ۹۳% and the average surface roughness along a line on thelens was ۰.۲۵ nm, which is good for an intraocular lens. To check the hydrophilicity orhydrophobicity of the surface of the lens, the contact angle measurement test was performed, whichaccording to the predictions for the PMMA material, the contact angle was ۷۰±۳ degrees, whichindicates its hydrophobicity.
