Synthesis of solubile sulfur-containing polymers via Thiol-Ene click reaction

Incorporating sulfur (S) atoms into polymer main chains endows these materials with many attractivefeatures, including a high refractive index, mechanical properties,and electrochemical properties. Butthe poor solubility of sulfur-containing polymers is one of the most important challenges. Thiol-eneclick reaction is a fast, controllable, and easy method in mild reaction conditions with no or minimalside products formation for the synthesis of sulfur-containing polymers. In this study, sulfurcontainingpolymers with solubility were successfully synthesized using thiol-ene reactions and itwas discovered that the presence of monothiol reduces the length of the chains and increases thesolubility of the polymer.
