چکیده مقاله:
This study aims to evaluate the quality of the Persian translation of Alice Munro’s “Dear Life” by Mojdeh Daghighi using House’s (۲۰۱۴) Translation Quality Assessment (TQA) model. The selected sections of the source text were carefully studied in comparison with the Persian translated version to explore the translation quality and detect both covert and overt errors. The analysis revealed that the selected Persian translation had both covert and overt errors. The covert errors were found to be related to the provenance and stance of the source text writer, Alice Munro, and the translator, Mojdeh Daghighi. The overt errors were categorized into different types, with the highest frequency belonging to slight changes in meaning, accounting for ۴۲.۲% of all overt errors. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding of translation quality assessment and the challenges faced by translators in preserving the original meaning and style of the source text. The results also highlight the importance of using theoretical models and systematic approaches in evaluating translation quality to ensure objectivity and accuracy. The study demonstrates the applicability of House’s TQA model in assessing the quality of literary translations and provides insights for translators, researchers, and translation students. The findings of this study can also contribute to the development of more effective translation strategies and techniques for preserving the cultural and linguistic nuances of the source text. Overall, this study provides a comprehensive analysis of the translation quality of the Persian translation of Alice Munro’s “Dear Life” and highlights the need for systematic and theoretical approaches in evaluating translation quality.
