The misuse of antibiotics as well as incorrect dosage or insufficient time for detoxification can result in the presence of pharmacologically active molecules in milk. Additionally, zeolites are commonly used as adsorbents due to their properties such as fine ion exchange properties and high chemical stability. The main goal of this study is to improve zeolite by functionalization and use them in adsorption technology, especially for the removal of antibiotics from raw milk. According to the results of XRD, FT-IR, and Zeta potential functionalize ZSM-۵ zeolite by ۳-APTES successfully. To investigate the amount of tetracycline which adsorbed on functionalized zeolite (ZSM-۵-NH۲) was measured by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The optimal conditions including pH, contact time, and the amount of adsorbent were considered. By changing these parameters, a significant difference in antibiotic absorption was observed. The results show the ZSM-NH۲ has fine efficiency in adsorbing tetracycline. Furthermore, adsorption isotherms were fitted by Langmuir and Freundlich models.
