The Effect of Social Capital On Marital Satisfaction of Couples With Multiple Sclerosis in Kerman province, Iran

This study aimed to conduct a sociological assessment of the effect of social capital on marital satisfaction in married MS patients in Kerman province, southeastern Iran. In the present survey, statistical population included ۱۷۰ married male and female patients in Kerman, Iran. selected using Cochran's sample size formula. Marital satisfaction was assessed using the standardized Enrich Marital Satisfaction Scale, and researcher-made social capital questionnaire. The results of Pearson’s correlation coefficient indicate that marital satisfaction is significantly related to structural bridging capital, cognitional bridging capital, the severity of disease, duration of disease and wife job. Moreover, a significant difference is observed between men and women in terms of marital satisfaction. The results of regression analysis show that among dimensions of social capital, cognitional bonding and structural capitals are the key determinants of spouse's satisfaction with each other.
