Reducing the complications of MS using parasitic worms

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by demyelination andneurodegeneration in the central nervous system. Despite advances in immunomodulatory treatments,many patients experience significant morbidity. Recent studies have explored the potential of helminththerapy, leveraging the immunoregulatory properties of parasitic worms, as an innovative approach totreating MS. This essay examines the current state of research on helminth therapy for MS, highlightingits mechanisms, clinical trials, and therapeutic potential. The findings suggest that helminth therapy canmodulate immune responses, reduce inflammation, and may improve clinical outcomes in MS patients.However, further research is necessary to establish safety, efficacy, and practical applications in clinicalsettings.
