چکیده مقاله:
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a pervasive condition impacting millions globally, often arising from traumatic experiences. While current treatments like psychotherapy and medication benefit many, a considerable number of individuals remainunresponsive, necessitating innovative approaches. This article explores the promise of gene therapy in tackling PTSD by examining itsgenetic underpinnings and neurobiological changes. It reviews the current understanding of PTSD, stressing the imperative ofeffective treatments given its links to mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Despite recommendations from the AmericanPsychological Association, existing therapies face limitations, prompting exploration into novel interventions such as psychedelics.Gene therapy emerges as a potential breakthrough, offering versatility in addressing genetic and acquired disorders across three keyphases. Studies investigating FKBP۵ gene expression changes and brain structure in PTSD patients undergoing cognitive behavioraltherapy reveal promising outcomes. Additionally, research on insulin growth factor ۱ gene therapy for traumatic brain and spinal cordinjuries shows potential benefits. However, gene therapy poses challenges and ethical considerations, necessitating careful candidateselection and technical proficiency. Despite these hurdles, recent strides in molecular biology hint at gene therapy's increasingrelevance in clinical settings. This article highlights its potential for precise genetic alterations, early intervention, and alternatives fornon-responsive individuals, stressing ongoing research's importance in maximizing gene therapy's impact on PTSD treatment.
