چکیده مقاله:

BackgroundPatients with cardiovascular diseases often experience fear of death, depression, and anxiety ۱-۳, alllinked to a heightened risk of future cardiac events۲, ۴. Research indicates that improved empathy isassociated with a reduced risk of such events۵, making enhancing empathy among cardiac nursescrucial.Knowledge brokering, a strategy utilizing various interventions to enhance practice, is key inachieving this.ObjectiveTo examine the impact of knowledge brokering on nurses' empathy with patients receiving cardiac care.MethodsThis experimental study involved ۱۰۰ cardiac nurses, randomly assigned to control and interventiongroups. The intervention group received knowledge brokering using Dobbin's seven-stagemethod.Empathy levels were measured using the Empathy Construct Rating Scale, with scores rangingfrom +۲۵۲ to -۲۵۲, and analyzed using SPSS version ۲۱.ResultsFindings showed a significant mean empathy change score (MECS) of ۲۲.۹۰ ± ۵۰.۹۳ in the interventiongroup (p = .۰۰۳) compared to ۷.۱۰ ± ۶۰.۲۰ in the control group (p = .۴۰۸).Notably, nurses with a baselineempathy score ≥۱۰۰ in the intervention group exhibited a significantly higher adjusted MECS than thecontrol group(۱۱.۴۴ units versus -۱۵.۴۲ units).ConclusionsKnowledge brokering can enhance empathetic behaviors in moderately empathic cardiac nurses, withits effectiveness influenced by the nurses' initial empathy levels.
