Composite materials are engineered or naturally occurring materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties that remain separate and distinct at the macroscopic or microscopic scale within the finished structure. W–Cu composite which is a kind of metal matrix composite, is widely used in aerospace industries because of its high hardness, wear and arc resistance, electrical and thermal conductivities, and low coefficient of thermal expansion. In this paper W-۲۰vol%Cu composite was successfully prepared by Hot-press, in which at first the powder of tungsten and copper, containing ۲۰%vol copper were mixed in a ball mill for ۳ hours at rotation speed of ۲۰۰rpm. Then the mixed powders were hot-pressed for ۳ hours at compact pressure of ۳۰MPa and temperatures of ۱۲۵۰˚, ۱۳۵۰˚ and ۱۴۵۰˚C. The made composites have been investigated and revealed making W-Cu composite with good properties including density, hardness, modules of elasticity, flexural strength and micro structure.
