چکیده مقاله:
Aims: The game is the way for boosting the learners’ motivation in the classroom and it has some positive effects (Ahmed et al,۲۰۲۲). This study examines whether games have a significant effect on the motivation of intermediate level English language learners or not. Methods: In this quantitative study, ۶۰ language learners with the age group of ۱۳ to ۱۶ years and an intermediate level of English were selected from private English language institute in Neyshabour city, Iran, and were randomly divided into two control and experimental group based on EPT to make sure they are homogenized. In the control group, the teacher did not play any games while teaching. And in the experimental group, the teacher taught using games. The questionnaire adopted in this article was designed by Ryan (۲۰۱۵) and used for pre-test and post-test. Results: Inferential statistics showed that the sig level of the group is ۰.۰۰۰ which is lower than ۰.۰۵ (sig=۰.۰۰۰ ۰<۰.۰۵), so with ۹۵ percent assurance, H۰ is rejected and the game has a significant effect on the post-test, so there is a significant difference among control and experimental groups. Conclusion: games have meaningful effects on motivation among EFL learners at intermediate levels. The integration of games and motivation into EFL instruction can have a positive impact on learners' language proficiency and overall learning experience. Therefore, teachers should consider the lesson in the form of a game to interact and motivate the students as much as possible.
