چکیده مقاله:

In this paper, the electrochemical and supercapacitive behavior of a thin film and self-assembled layerof the liquid redox of catocene, ۲, ۲’-bis (ethyl-ferroceneyl) propane, on a basal plane pyroelectric graphite(BPPG) electrode in comparison to a solid ferrocene film, inside aqueous sodium sulfate electrolyte was studied. The modified electrode surfaces were evaluated to assess the redox material film formation and iron contentquality using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), and attenuatedtotal reflectance (ATR). The performance of the electrodes and their specific capacitance were assessed andcompared using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) in a three-electrode systemand an asymmetric two-electrode supercapacitor system. Electrochemical studies displayed that the electrodeprocesses are diffusion-controlled, and the liquid catocene exhibits more effective interaction with the BPPGsurface in comparison solid ferrocene. The catocene surface coverage (Γ) on graphite is nearly ۵۰-۷۵% higherthan ferrocene, leading to improved interaction and charge transfer resistance, observed in electrochemicalimpedance spectroscopy (EIS) studies. The specific energy density of the catocene-based supercapacitor reaches۵۶.۷ Wh/kg at a power density of ۲.۹ kW/kg. Moreover, the overall capacitance of the supercapacitor ismaintained around ۹۴% efficiency for ۳۰۰۰ charge-discharge cycles.
