Synthesis of silica iodide as a new heterogeneous reagent and its application toconversion of alcohols to alkyl iodides

A simple, mild, with short time and high yielding procedure for iodination of alcohols using a silicaiodide as a new heterogeneous reagent, is described. Several factors such as the type of solvent, the amount ofreactants, reaction time, type of mesh silica gel was investigated.
