The effect of counterions on the structural characteristics and intermolecular interactionsin the heterobimetallic Pt‒Au complexes

This investigation seeks to explore the impact of counterions on the crystal structure and propertiesof heterobimetallic PtII–AuI complexes represented by the formula [Pt(p-MeC۶H۴)(dfppy)(μ-dppm)Au(NHC)]X,where NHC = ۱,۳-bis(۲,۶-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-۲-ylidene; dfppy = ۲-(۲,۴-difluorophenyl)pyridinate; dppm= ۱,۱-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane; and X- = OTf- ۱, ClO۴- ۲. To this aim, the experimental investigation iscomplemented by ab initio calculations, particularly density functional theory (DFT).
