Selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with tert-BuOOH catalyzed by ruthenium(III)unsymmetrical salen complex

A ruthenium(III) unsymmetrical salen complex, Ru(salenac)Cl where salenac =salicylideneiminoethyliminopentane-۲-one, was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, UV-Vis, ۱H NMR, andelemental analysis. The synthesized Ru(salenac)Cl complex was successfully employed as a new and efficienthomogeneous catalyst for selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) asoxidant.
