Effect of light stress on Spirulina platensis productivity and phycocyanin and chlorophyllcontent

چکیده مقاله:
Spirulina is one of the microalgae that has been widely used in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceuticalindustries. Like all organisms, the application of various stresses can affect the growth rate and intracellularcontent of spirulina. In this research, Spirulina platensis microalgae was exposed to light shock after a ۶-daygrowth period, and the light intensity was increased from ۲۰۰۰ lux to ۶۰۰۰ lux. The results showed that due tothe applied stress, Biomass productivity decreased by about ۱۰%. Of course, the beginning of this decreasehappened almost on the ۸th day. Also, the content of phycocyanin decreased by ۴۰% due to stress. However,the results related to chlorophyll content showed an increase of about ۱۰%.
