Monitoring the Physical Aging of Poly(Ethylene Terephthalate) Fibers Using Dye SorptionMethod

This work is aimed to monitor the physical aging (structural relaxation) of polyester fibers in terms ofchanges in the number of dye molecules sorbed by aged specimens as a new method and to make some aspectsof this complex phenomenon more clear which rarely considered in the literature. Specimens, aged thermallyat the specified temperature and periods, are thus, conducted to the dye sorption experiments to monitor theirphysical aging. The results show that the method yields reliable information on physical aging of the polymer
