BOOK REVIEW: Teaching Equity Through Children’s Literature in Undergraduate Classrooms

The questions concerning Equity have always been a part of human education. Using Children's Literature to teach these issues opens new possibilities to teachers of undergraduate students. A lack of literature in this area of concern on minority groups and social justice has created a gap. Teaching Equity Through Children’s Literature in Undergraduate Classrooms offers processes to teach children’s literature with attention to apply social justice and impartiality in undergraduate classes. The book incorporates contributions of the experts/teachers in the field and those who belong to minority groups due to their race, nationality, ethnicity, gender identity, and disability. It helps teachers to prepare their students with a keen eye on equity issues in the world of literature and the real world. It is divided to two sections and eight chapters. The first section includes theoretical approaches to teaching Children’s Literature and the second is dedicated to pedagogical approaches. It is an inclusive book that bases its argument on the lived experience of the teachers practically. The book also gives enough insight into the useful techniques for the classrooms.
