Encapsulation of Echinacea purpurea extract by spray drying

The hydro-alcoholic extract of aerial parts of Echinacea purpurea has been dried and the experimentalparameters of drying investigated. Particle size distribution, moisture and ash contents, spectroscopicconsideration and cichoric acid concentration were studied by implementing of different techniques. The resultsshowed that maltodextrin was the best additive for encapsulation of Echinacea extract.
