An engineered endolysin with binding ability to Acinetobacter Baumannii outermembrane

The ever-growing antibiotic resistance has made researchers look for new anti-MDR Acinetobacterbaumannii agents. Bacteriophage endolysins provide one potential solution to this pressing issue. However, Dueto the presence of a protective outer membrane and lipopolysaccharide in A. Baumannii, phage lysins do nothave a naturally exposed target. Therefore, in the present study, we studied and observed our engineeredendolysin binds effectively to the lipopolysaccharide of A. baumannii in contrast to intact parental endolysin.
