Preparation, characterization and mechanical properties of chitosan/Poly(vinylpyrrolidone)/ZnO bionanocomposite films

The blends of chitosan, poly (vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) and Zinc oxide (ZnO) were prepared by dispersionof the nanoparticles in the film matrix and their mechanical properties were determined. The studies on themechanical properties of bionanocomposite films indicate that the addition of ZnO nanoparticles increasedtensile strength. It was found that addition of ZnO nanoparticles resulted in a stiffer material confirming thereinforcing effect of the nanoparticles in the polymeric matrix.
