This article investigates the role of Antonio Damasio's theory concerning the somatic marker hypothesis in strengthening authentic emotional imagery and engaging the audience in contemporary films. The somatic marker hypothesis explores the relationship between emotions, decision-making, and cognition, emphasizing the influence of bodily responses and somatic markers. The research begins by introducing the topic and providing background information on Damasio's theory. It then highlights the significance of emotional imagery and audience engagement in films, outlining the research methodology employed. Furthermore, it presents an overview of the somatic marker hypothesis, elucidating its key concepts and principles, and delves into the role of emotions in decision-making and cognition. This article predominantly emphasizes the importance of authentic emotional imagery in films, analyzes the current status of emotional imagery in contemporary cinema, and identifies challenges in achieving authenticity. The impact of the somatic marker hypothesis on emotional imagery in the examined film is addressed, aiding actors and filmmakers in creating authenticity. Additionally, the article examines the importance of audience engagement in films, discusses the relationship between valid emotional imagery and audience involvement, and analyzes the reception and impact of audiences through specific case studies and examples of films employing the somatic marker hypothesis
