Age determination and growth rate of Capoeta trutta in Azad Dam Lake, Kurdistan Province, Iran

A total of ۱۴۸ specimens of Capoeta trutta caught from Azad Dam Lake, Kurdistan Province, northwest of Iran were examined during ۲۰۱۵-۲۰۱۶ for assessing growth parameters. The total length (TL) and weight (W) of C. trutta ranged from ۴.۰ to ۲۹.۰ cm and ۰.۹ to ۲۷۴.۰ g,  average (± SD)  = ۱۹.۳ (± ۴.۰) cm and ۸۰.۳ (± ۴۴.۷) g, respectively. The length-weight regression was W = ۰.۰۱۲۱ × TL۲.۹۳۱۷ indicating isometric growth. The sex ratio (M:F) was ۱:۰.۳۳, differed significantly from the expected ۱:۱ (P < ۰.۰۰۱). The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estimated as L∞ = ۲۹.۶ mm, K = ۰.۳۳ yr-۱, t۰ = -۰.۵۷ yr. The instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality was estimated as ۰.۵۸ yr-۱. The averaged condition factor (KF) was ۱.۰۰ ± ۰.۱۱, by significantly differences among seasons (P < ۰.۰۰۱). In the present study, the relative condition factor (Kn) of C. trutta were close to ۱ suggesting the well-being condition of the fish in Azad Dam region.
