چکیده مقاله:

One of the main problems in local wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in remote cities and mountainous areas is the transfer of waste-activated sludge (WAS). Due to the lack of skilled staff and sludge dewatering facilities and footprint, sludge maintenance and storage in the treatment plant are facing numerous issues. In this study, using simulation with activated sludge model, the operating protocol of the treatment plant has been optimized so that the amount of sludge production is minimized and the quality of the effluent from the treatment plant is maintained. In this protocol, the method of controlling the amount of excess sludge and return sludge according to the operating conditions of the process is presented, and its causes are analyzed. Optimized operation protocol reduces WAS and maintains effluent quality in a period of sludge disposal. This protocol can be used to optimize the performance of similar houses by considering the process and operation conditions
