Delignification of lignocellulosic biomass for enhancement of cellulose accessibilityto enzyme and improvement of hydrolysis yield is bottleneck of biofuel productionprocess. The present study is aimed at pretreating of Quinoa waste (QW) with sodiumhydroxide solution, improving delignification process, and consequently enhancingenzymatic hydrolysis yield. Experiments performed at sub-boiling and over-boilingtemperature of pretreatment solution, ۲, ۵, and ۸% (w/v) of alkali concentration.Enzymatic hydrolysis of samples was measured. Maximum hydrolysis yield of ۸۸%was observed following ۳h pretreatment of QW with ۸%(w/v) SH at ۹۰ °C. Moreover,noticeable lignin removal was occurred (doubled) after QW pretreatment, leading to۱۰۰% cellulose enrichment. Characterizations of pretreated samples were measuredwith experimental methods. Delignification, not only improved celluloseaccessibility, but also improved enzymatic hydrolysis which carried out in sterilizedcondition including enzyme loading of ۲۰ FPU/g.
