چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are emerging technologies in surgical practice.AR displays computer-generated information on the real world and VR presents interactive ۲D and ۳D imagesof a patient's anatomy. Considering the role of this emerging technology in the progress of the surgical process,a systematic review was conducted under the title of the application of virtual reality and augmented reality insurgical procedures.Method: A structured search was performed in the Web of Science, PubMed and Scopus databases, as well asthe Google Scholar search engine . This study was conducted from ۲۰۲۰ to November ۴ ۲۰۲۳. The reviewersanalyzed ۱۱۲ studies. This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Metaanalysis(PRISMA) protocols. The studies were reviewed based on the inclusion criteria (the Englishness, theavailability, and the related of the studies) and those studies whose full text was not available and were notrelated to the topic were excluded from the review. And finally, to avoid biasing the final studies by The toolsof CASP were evaluated. Results: Eighteen articles were reviewed, a systematic review article evaluated the effectiveness of virtualreality (VR) in surgery, including its application in surgical training. The review found that immersive VR,augmented reality (AR), and VR surgical planning are the most common types of VR used in surgery. ImmersiveVR is used for surgical skills acquisition in medical students, residents, and staff, and studies have shown thatit improves procedural times, task completion, and accuracy, and is cost-effective. AR is used to providesurgeons with pre-operation access to ۳D renderings of organs and anatomical references and information. VRsurgical planning is used to provide a ۳D view of medical data for better spatial understanding and naturalinteraction with the data in ۳D space. VR and AR tools that provide real-time anatomical references andinformation during surgeryConclusion: The study concluded that virtual reality therapy showed potential improvements in clinical patientoutcomes and patient-reported experiences of those undergoing surgery. However, findings were inconsistent, requiring further research to investigate and determine the effectiveness of using VR in acute care settings.
