چکیده مقاله:

Introduction :Blood transfusion is one of the important treatment methods, and it is important for nurses toknow about its various aspects. To ensure safe blood transfusion, apart from the role of the blood bank inconducting safe donation, attention should be paid to equally important but relatively neglected factors such asnursing practice and transfusion awareness. In other words, examining the knowledge of nurses in the field ofblood transfusion can identify the deficiencies related to this knowledge in the field and guide the medical staffand blood transfusion centers to correct the existing conditions and revise the relevant educational programs. Inthis study, we investigate the knowledge and performance of nurses regarding blood transfusion. Methods :It was compiled by searching in both Persian and English languages in reliable databases such asScopus, Pubmed, Web of Science, Sid, Google Scholar, and Magiran in the period from ۲۰۱۳ to ۲۰۲۳.Results :Characteristics such as work experience and the number of training sessions in the field of bloodtransfusion are predictive factors in the performance of nurses for blood transfusion and patient care. Themajority of nurses in the studies lacked knowledge of activities before blood transfusion and declared that theyneeded more training in the field of hemovigilance. Also, new graduates, inexperienced nurses, and those whodo not transfuse often need more support to improve their knowledge level. In addition, most of the nurses didnot have the right information to take necessary measures during allergic reactions for patients. Conclusion :According to the results of the studies, nurses need in-service training to increase their knowledgeabout safe blood transfusion practices, especially because transfusion collections are the most common causeof adverse blood reactions. It is also suggested to take a step in improving the clinical performance of novicenurses by properly managing and placing experienced nurses next to young nurses.
