چکیده مقاله:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVESThese days, Probiotics like lactobacillus have been recognized for their significant role in human health, especially the digestive system. These bacteria have numerous profits for preventing intestine inflammation, and diarrhea caused by bacteria and suppressing the proliferation of cancer cells that have a significant role in human health. In addition, lactobacillus can express different genes in colon cancer cells. In this review, the cytotoxic, anti-proliferative, and apoptotic effects of lactobacillus have been investigated on colon cancer cells.MATERIALS AND METHODSIn this study, several articles and research articles on the use of lactobacillus and their effects on colon cancer, using databases such as Google Scholar, SID, NCBI, PubMed and Sciencedirect were reviewed.RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONStudies have shown using lactobacillus known as a probiotic can have effects on increasing expression of BAX (BCL-۲), CASP۳, and Beta-defensin ۲ (BD-۲) genes, and induces apoptosis in colon cancer cells Apoptosis induction in cancer cells results in various morphological changes that are indicators of apoptosis induction. It is worth noting that lactobacillus induce apoptosis in colon cancer cells, the cells stop during cell proliferation in the G۰ and G۱ phases of the cell cycle. Therefore, by reducing the proliferation of cancer cells, they play a significant role in preventing and treating colon cancer.CONCLUSIONProbiotic has a significant impact on the improvement of the therapeutic process of colon cancer.
