Dilemma of “In-betweenness” and Cultural Identity

Identity is an influential element in forming the most fundamental aspects of social principles and refers to the various factors of life, such as beliefs, attitudes, values, cultural and social status .We must avoid the temptation to think of our identities as constant. Instead, our identities are formed through processes that started before we were born and will continue after we are gone; therefore our identities aren’t something we achieve or complete. Cultural identities are based on socially constructed categories that teach us a way of being and include expectations for social behavior or ways of acting. The obtained results show: the problem of "in-betweenness ness " in relation to cultural identity arises when people live in a multicultural or diverse environment and interact with different cultures and values. In this situation, a person may be faced with identity conflicts and experience internal duality betweenness maintaining and supporting his cultural identity and the need to interact and adapt to other cultures. This article is a review-library method, which was written according to the opinions of scholars in this field. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of "in-betweenness " and cultural identity. The necessary content for writing this study was obtained through searching SID, scholar G, Google search engine databases in this field.
