Omar Khayyam’s impact on world literature

The present research investigated the impact of Omar Khayyam on world literature. In this qualitative research,an interpretive approach was used. By studying the biography and translations of Omar Khayyam's quatrainsand works by writers such as Fitzgerald, we found out how Persian literature influenced world literature throughthe translations of Omar Khayyam's quatrains. Also, Fitzgerald introduced the Persian poetic style to the worldby adapting Khayyam's poetic sentiments from his quatrains, and this is how Persian literature gained many fansand made Western writers and philosophers such as Edward Henry Winfield to make more accurate translationsof Khayyam with the difference that he remained faithful to the original Persian poetry. These influencesbecame more and more until Khayyam influenced not only on literature but also music, philosophy, movies andplays of the world. NASA also named an asteroid in the solar system after Khayyam. And also among theexamples of these influences was the establishment of the Khayyam club in London, Germany, Holland andAmerica to honor the Victorian writer Fitzgerald and Omar Khayyam's quatrains.
