A Linguistic View of Autism

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is one of the disorders that affect people's communication and language skills. It is usually possible to diagnose this disorder from the age of ۴ years onwards (Frith, ۲۰۰۸). Since one of the ways of early diagnosis of this disease is the presence of various speech disorders, this research examines and reviews the research conducted on the language characteristics and speech disorders of autistic children. Scientific activities and researches are collected and analyzed. Then, suggested topics that can be studied in the future are presented. Regarding the language and speech of autistic children, our studies and researches are not complete and comprehensive and still have gaps. In the next steps and future research, it can be hoped that the cooperation between speech therapists and clinical linguists will increase and efforts will be made in this field.
