چکیده مقاله:

Background Multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae(MDR-KP) are becoming increasinglycommon over the world. .Klebsiella pneumonia (K. pneumoniae) is one of the mostprevalent human pathogens and contributes to substantial morbidity and mortality . Hence, data on antimicrobial resistance help defne the best possible treatment for individualpatients.Terefore, this study aimed to determine the antimicrobial resistant profle of ۳rdgeneration cephalosporin drugs in Ahvaz, Iran. Methods: A total ۷۵ clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae were collected from twohospitals of Ahvaz , Iran during Period from( June-August ۲۰۲۳). The clinical samples such aswound swab, urine, sputum, and CSF were collected from hospitalized patients.Antimicrobial susceptibility tests were carried out using various antimicrobial discs by Kirby–Bauer disc difusion method. Results. Totally, ۷۵ bacterial isolates were obtained from ۴۵(۶۰%) male and ۳۰ (۴۰%) female patients. About ۶۶ (۸۸%) ,۶۴(۸۵%) and ۵۷ (۷۶%) of thetotal bacterial isolates were found to be resistant to cefazidime, cefriaxone and cefepimerespectively. Conclusion and Discussion: Bacterial resistance towards third-generation cephalosporin (cefriaxone , cefazidime and cefepime) is escalating as more than half of the isolated strains demonstrated resistance to these drugs. Moreover, these strains also revealed multidrug resistance mainly against clinically used drugs which could render therapy unsuccessful. Terefore, in clinical use appropriate medications should be selected based on the data obtained from antimicrobial susceptibility tests.
