چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Emerging Adulthood includes the age range of ۱۸ to ۲۵ years and characterized by engaging in diverse interpersonal relationships. These relationships can be affected by communication patterns within the family. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of the need to relatedness and the social isolation schema in the relationship between the perception of maternal warmth and hope at the emerging adulthood. Method: This research is a descriptive- correlational study, and its statistical population consisted of undergraduate students of Mashhad universities in the fall semester of the academic year ۲۰۲۳-۲۰۲۴. A number of ۱۴۵ (۸۴ females and ۶۱ male) of these students selected by convenience sampling method and completed the Perceptions of Parents Scale (POPS; Robbins, ۱۹۹۴), the Basic Need Satisfaction in Relationships Scale (La Guardia et al. ۲۰۰۰), the short form of the Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ -SF), and hope scale (Snyder et al., ۱۹۹۱). Path analysis and SPSS.۲۷ and AMOS.۲۴ software used for data analysis. Results: The results showed that the model has a good fit (χ۲/df=۱.۷۳, GFI=۰.۹۹, CFI=۰.۹۹, IFI=۰.۹۹, RMSEA=۰.۰۷). The direct effect of the perception of maternal warmth and the need to relatedness on agency thinking and pathways was positive and meaningful. The social isolation schema also had a direct and negative effect on agency thinking. The indirect effect of the perception of maternal warmth on agency thinking and pathways was positive and significant due to the need to relatedness and the social isolation schema. The need to relatedness has a higher mediating role. Conclusion: The current research showed that the maternal warmth and intimacy, by fulfilling the need to relatedness and reducing the social isolation, leads to increased people's hope at the emerging adulthood. It seems that the effect of the maternal interaction with her children is preserved at the emerging adulthood and has positive psychological consequences.
